Stud Finder

OneSpire built the Stud Finder app as an ad-supported utility. This Privacy Policy explains how information is handled when you use the app.


Information processed by the app


Stud Finder uses your device’s magnetic-field sensor to display magnetic-field readings and provide tools such as Meter, Graph, and Wall Scan. It also includes a Stud Spacing calculator.


Magnetic-field readings, calibration results, scan results, and calculator inputs are processed locally on your device. OneSpire does not upload or store this information on its servers.


The app does not require access to your location, camera, microphone, contacts, photos, or files.


App preferences, such as vibration, screen-on behavior, and alert threshold, are stored locally on your device. You can remove this local data by clearing the app’s data or uninstalling the app.


Advertising and third-party services


Stud Finder uses:

  • Google Mobile Ads SDK to display advertisements.
  • Google User Messaging Platform (UMP) to request and manage consent where required.

Google’s advertising services may automatically collect or process information such as:

  • IP address, which may be used to estimate general location.
  • App interactions, such as app launches, taps, and ad views.
  • Diagnostic information, including performance and crash-related information.
  • Device and advertising identifiers, such as the Android Advertising ID and App Set ID.
  • Basic device and network information used for advertising, analytics, security, and fraud prevention.

Depending on your region and consent choices, Google may show personalized or non-personalized ads. Where required, you can review or change your advertising privacy choices through the Privacy choices option in the app’s Settings screen.


Information transmitted by Google’s advertising services is encrypted in transit. Google handles information according to its own policies:

  • Google Privacy Policy
  • How Google uses information from apps that use its services
  • Google advertising controls

Data sharing and retention


OneSpire does not operate a user-account system and does not directly collect, sell, or retain personal information through Stud Finder.

Information collected by Google’s advertising services may be processed and retained by Google according to its policies and your consent choices. You can reset or delete your Android Advertising ID through your device’s privacy settings.


Locally stored app preferences remain on your device until you clear the app’s data or uninstall the app.


Children’s privacy


Stud Finder is not specifically designed for children under 13. OneSpire does not knowingly collect personal information directly from children.


Accuracy and safety


Stud Finder measures changes in magnetic-field strength. It cannot identify the exact source of a reading or guarantee the presence of a wooden stud, electrical wire, pipe, or other object behind a wall. Always verify the area and follow appropriate safety procedures before drilling or cutting.


Changes to this policy


This Privacy Policy may be updated when the app, advertising services, or legal requirements change. Updates will be posted on this page.
